Nuevo Vallarta - Dec 2018 with Katie Bittner

I absolutely loved the area of Nuevo Vallarta, I felt very safe during a time when everyone is a little uncertain of travel to Mexico.

As I have suggested in previous reports, my advice is to either book the plus seats in advance or take a chance at time of check-in to upgrade for a fee when travelling on Westjet. The extra legroom is very nice, but the even greater advantage is the separate check-in. This is even more helpful when checking in at your destination as many of the airports are very congested and it makes your return journey so much more enjoyable.

Travelling in December, the weather was perfect for me. It is a little cooler in December so if you want really ‘hot’ weather, you might be better off to wait until March or April.

We stayed at Dreams, in Nuevo Vallarta. This was a very nice resort, overall I would give it a four-star rating. The check in was very smooth and they had us to our room very swiftly. The rooms are very large and comfortable. Room service is offered 24 hours a day and they have a fridge with soft drinks/water and beer that is re-stocked daily. They clean your room daily and have evening turndown service.

There are many dining options. Buffet style and a la carte. Mexican, Italian and seafood options. Beach grill for snacks and quick meals.

The beach is absolutely stunning and you can walk for hours, the surf is a little strong for beginners but lots of areas to play in the water. If the beach is not for you they have three large pools.

The resort is family friendly, I do feel they could do a bit more to encourage families, simply by changing some of the management decisions. (I have offered some constructive criticism directly to the hotel)

Dreams offers up lots of excursions to choose from. You can go and swim with the dolphins, go zip-lining, take a catamaran trip to a secluded island and many more. The resort also offers enough to do if you simply wish to relax and stay in one spot.

I think Nuevo Vallarta gets overlooked by many leisure travellers. I like the direct/non-stop flights from Vancouver. The safety of the area and convenience make this a spot I will absolutely recommend to others in the future.
