Air Canada/Lufthansa/United Transatlantic Economy Basic fares

Air Canada/Lufthansa/United Transatlantic Economy Basic fares

On June 5, 2018, Air Canada, along with Star Alliance partners Lufthansa Group Airlines and United Airlines, introduced Economy Basic fares on select transatlantic routes.

The Economy Basic fare has been designed to provide the best value to travellers who won’t need to adjust their travel dates and are willing to travel light.

Unlike typical ultra-low-cost carrier fares, customers will be entitled to complimentary carry-on baggage, the accumulation of Aeroplane Miles and Altitude Qualifying Miles (at a reduced rate) on transatlantic routes, as well as access to seat-back in-flight entertainment systems (when available). However, as the lowest fare option, certain restrictions apply: some travel options and services will be available for a fee while others will not be available.

Services include:

• Carry-on baggage (1 hand luggage and 1 personal item)

• Complimentary onboard meal and beverages

• Accumulation of Aeroplane Miles and Altitude Qualifying Miles

Fare conditions:

• Refunds: non-refundable

• Changes: not permitted

• Cancellation: no credit value towards future travel

Services available for an added fee

• Seat reservation

• 1 piece of baggage up to 23 kg

• Excess baggage

• Seat with extra legroom
